Missouri Takes Steps to Implement PDMP

Missouri Takes Steps to Implement PDMP

Missouri, the only state without a prescription drug monitoring program (PDMP), just granted initial approval to HB 1892, the Narcotics Control Act, which could lead to the implementation of a PDMP.

The bill passed the Missouri House with a 91-68 decision and must be passed by the Senate before going into law, with a proposed effective date of August 26th, 2016. Similar bills have failed to pass in the Missouri Senate in the past, but HB 1892 passed the House after a three-week delay where politicians fine-tuned the bill to settle issues prior to a vote.

If this bill were to become law, every state in the country would have a PDMP. Healthesystems will continue to monitor the progress of this bill going forward.
