Press Release - Healthe Work Group Members Recognized by Peers at NCPDP

Healthesystems Work Group Members Recognized by Peers at NCPDP Annual Technology & Business Conference

Tampa, FL, May 20, 2011 — Healthesystems is pleased to announce the recognition of both of its representatives at the annual National Council for Prescription Drug Programs (NCPDP) Technology and Business Conference, held May 15 - 19, 2011, in Phoenix, Arizona.

Kristine Kennedy, vice president of product management, has been elected co-chair of NCPDP Property and Casualty/Workers’ Compensation Work Group 16 (WG16) and Sandy Shtab, compliance manager, was recognized with a Most Valuable Participant (MVP) award for her efforts in leading the WG16 Legislative and Education Task Group.

Among her duties as co-chair, Ms. Kennedy will share responsibility for leading WG16 in its efforts to promote a national electronic standard for pharmacy billing and to educate policymakers on issues pertinent to the delivery of prescription care and services for workers' compensation patients. The group is dedicated to increasing the visibility of this crucially important, niche segment of the health care industry.

The MVP award, as presented to Ms. Shtab, recognizes individual NCPDP members who have contributed an extraordinary amount of time and effort to produce results that accomplish their work group’s goals. Recognized as a subject matter expert on the ongoing legislative and regulatory changes impacting workers' compensation, Shtab is described as always being ready to share her knowledge, support the overall efforts of the work group and NCPDP and motivate her peers to take on new challenges.

"We are very excited about Sandy’s MVP award,” said Kennedy. “Her active participation in the task group, along with her dedication to collaboration and education keeps WG16 members informed on the many legislative changes that impact the workers' compensation line of business."

“I am also honored for my own opportunity to facilitate the overall direction and activities for Work Group 16,” she stated. “The NCPDP organization is the backbone of the pharmacy industry and the fact that Healthesystems is able to take an additional leadership position to further support and educate decision-makers and stakeholders on the importance of the standards related to pharmacy adjudication is tremendous."

Though one of several standards development organizations (SDOs) involved in health care information technology and standardization, NCPDP is the only SDO that focuses on pharmacy services. Its membership includes the highest representation from the pharmacy services sector of health care and its success is testimony to what can be achieved when diverse stakeholders collaborate to address the unique issues common to their industry.
