Dr. Robert L. Goldberg, Chief Medical Officer, Senior Vice President
As Chief Medical Officer and Senior Vice President of Healthesystems, Dr. Goldberg is responsible for providing strategic direction and oversight for all medical aspects of Healthesystems, including both the Pharmacy and Ancillary Benefits Management programs. Dr. Goldberg is actively involved in the development of new product offerings and services and works directly with clients to better understand their clinical needs and in turn deliver clinical excellence. His operational responsibilities include oversight of the clinical services team and the continued expansion of the clinical product portfolio. Dr. Goldberg provides expert clinical analysis and closely monitors program outcomes to identify new opportunities to meet client’s needs.
Recognized as one of the foremost authorities in the specialty of occupational and environmental medicine and in the field of musculoskeletal injuries, Dr. Goldberg has extensive experience in directing evidence-based and patient-centered care for insurance carriers, third party administrators and employers. He is a board-certified specialist in occupational medicine and has over 20 years of experience treating injured workers in private practice. He often speaks at national and international industry and medical events and is a frequent lecturer for the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine (ACOEM). In addition, Dr. Goldberg has been a major contributor to state policy as Chair of the Treatment Guidelines Committee, and was directly involved in the California workers’ compensation reforms, including an appointment to the Industrial Medical Council by the Governor of California.
Dr. Goldberg served as President of the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine (ACOEM) and as Vice-Chair of Occupational Medicine of the American Board of Preventive Medicine, and continues to serve both organizations. He is Professor of Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco and has over 25 years of medical management experience, having worked closely with payers, employers, third party administrators and patients.
Throughout his esteemed career, he has been instrumental in the development of best practices and medical guidelines and has been directly involved in all aspects of the occupational healthcare continuum with a multidisciplinary background as a treating physician, researcher, professor, consultant and corporate healthcare executive.
