Dr. Ralph Kendall, PharmD, Vice President of Clinical Services at Healthesystems recently participated in a panel discussion at the State Risk and Insurance Management Association (STRIMA) annual conference in Pratville, Alabama.
Dr. Kendall addressed some of the problems faced when dealing with drug diversion, addiction, fraud and abuse, and the skyrocketing drug spend seen in workers’ compensation as well as health care. During the panel discussion Dr. Kendall also examined tools and proactive steps that a PBM can take in order to curb these troublesome pharmacy trends.
STRIMA brings together risk and insurance managers of state governments to promote the advancement of risk management principles and practices in the public sector. The state membership exchanges information, facilitates training opportunities, and promotes the highest level of professional and ethical standards.

Dr. Seise's engaging presentation, titled The Prescription Drug Dilemma, examined issues with managing the challenging trends and potential changes in Texas prescription drug benefits.
